Cross tape, also known as spiral tape, is an inelastic, hypoallergenic and adhesive plaster made of polyester (80% polyester, 15% polyurethane, 5% acrylic) in the shape of a quadrangular network, available in different formats, invented by a Korean physiatrist doctor,
the doctor Aeo Kang, and by a Japanese osteopath, Nobutaka Tanaka.
The cross tape principle is based on traditional Chinese medicine concepts such as energy meridians, acupuncture points and trigger points.
The results of their application are evident and receive the consensus of therapists, doctors and patients.
The most evident results are those relating to their analgesic effect, which is felt after just a few minutes of application
of the cross tape on the painful points or on the trigger points.
The effect is the result of the decrease in interstitial pressure at the point where it is applied, in fact by lifting the subcutaneous skin it relieves pain, facilitates drainage and decompression of the painful area.
It also produces positive effects on muscle tone, for haemo-lymphatic drainage and microcirculation.
The patch can be applied for 5 or 7 days as it is hypoallergenic and water resistant. It also has no particular contraindications other than not applying the patch on open or infected wounds or on irritated skin (erythema, dermatitis, psoriasis, etc. ).
Given its simplicity, it can be applied directly by the patient after having cleaned the affected part well.
